The Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival is a one-day free celebration dedicated to elevating voices and showcasing talent from historically underrepresented groups in mainstream media.
Our mission:
Bring awareness to the lack of diverse representation in front of and behind the camera.
Inspire and empower media creators from underrepresented and marginalized groups to engage in filmmaking as a feminist act.
Examine media through the intersecting lenses of gender, sexuality, race, ability, class, age, etc.
Cultivate a welcoming safe space that fosters cross-cultural understanding.
GRFFF is back!
This year, we are proud to present a special screening of Amanda Rostic’s documentary film, “Delivering While Black,” made right here in West Michigan.
We had the opportunity to talk about her film and the festival on Fox 17’s Morning Mix.
Following the film screening, Amanda and her guests will participate in a Q&A.
The Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival began in 2014 and was originally the brainchild of independent publisher The Bandit Zine as a film version of their magazine. What started as a small evening showcase has now grown into an all-day festival that includes interactive workshops and panels, performances by local artists, and films screened from around the world. In 2019, keynote speaker, Joyce Pierpoline, held a special showing of her feminist cult classic horror-comedy film, TEETH.
This spring, the festival will be held at Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids, MI, on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
We’re excited to see the fest return this year, and are so happy to be a part of the ever-evolving Grand Rapids’ feminist community.
GRFFF is run entirely by volunteers and is made possible through community partnerships and sponsors. And we're always looking for more!
